North Dakota State Announces 2012 Spring Schedule

1/20/2012

Following their premiere on the national scene with a trip to the Division II MCLA tournament last May, as well as a climb into the Top 25 ranks, the North Dakota State University Bison lacrosse team is excited to announce their 2012 schedule.

The 2011 season had a bittersweet ending for the Bison. Finishing second in the UMLL conference, behind the University of St. Thomas Tommies, NDSU earned an at-large bid for the national tournament in Denver, CO held at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The 2011 season was ended early by SCAD out of Savannah, Georgia, and North Dakota State finished the season ranked 10th in MCLA polls.

North Dakota State opens their spring season against former conference foe, University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire, in what will be geographically as close to a home game as the Bison will see this year. The season opener will be held at St. Cloud State University Husky Stadium on February 18th.

Conference play begins with Carleton and Bethel on March 2nd and 3rd, respectively. These two matchups are also close to Fargo, again held at Husky Stadium at St. Cloud State.

The Bison then go on the road to St. Louis, Missouri, spending their spring break taking on extremely competitive national powers, beginning with the University of Northern Colorado March 16th at Cadet Park in St. Louis. March 17th the Bison will face defending National Champion Davenport of Grand Rapids, Michigan, who the Bison defeated last season in regular season play. Wrapping up their week in Missouri, North Dakota State faces Kennesaw State on March 18th.

Returning to the upper midwest, the following weekend the Bison take on bitter rival St. Johns University in Mahtomedi, MN on March 23rd. The following day North Dakota State faces off with Creighton University of Omaha, also in Mahtomedi.

A second long road trip for the Bison begins in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they will face Indiana Tech on March 31st. April 1st, North Dakota State travels to South Barrington, Illinois to face a very competitive Missouri State Bears team.

Closing out the regular season, North Dakota State travels back to Minnesota for a pair of conference matchups against St. Olaf College (April 21st) at Skoglund Field in Northfield, MN and defending UMLL Champion St. Thomas at O'Shaughnessy Stadium. (April 22nd)
